UMNO IS CURSED – GO AHEAD, SLAP THE CHINESE, BULLY THE CHRISTIANS: WHAT WILL MALAYS GET – HELLFIRE & ‘NICE’ NAJIB & ROSMAH TO MAKE THEM EVEN POORER
The people’s perception now is that Umno is faltering and cannot be saved anymore. Umno is perceived as not only failing the Malays but the nation as a whole. Right from the party president to those in the Cabinet they are perceived by the people as self-seeking, opportunists and non-performers.
The people are exposed to all the lies they come up with to conceal the big pit they have dug when mismanaging public funds, the country’s resources and assets.
The lies to cover up all these let-downs are repetitively told over the mainstream media to dupe the innocent people. Many however have lost faith in these media. Mainstream newspapers are not selling but are forced to be bought by government-owned institutions.
TV3 has lost millions of viewers and its income has dwindled drastically due to the lack of commercial ads. People on the other hand are now glued to the Internet for information and the social media to find out the truth about the real issues facing the country.
Race and religious cards
A faltering Umno now has no choice but to play the race and religious cards. Apparently, these are the only cards left in their pack. This modus operandi is backfiring though. The more they play these cards the more people loathe the party and its leaders. Malaysians of all races are now disgusted with this political ploy and are distancing themselves more from Umno.
Just recently a tainted and desperate Umno leader was made to come up with an outrageous “essay writing contest” to demean an Opposition party leader but this has terribly boomeranged. People have condemned his move and the image of Umno is further tarnished in the eyes of all Malaysians.
PAS is a doomed political party and yet Umno is roping PAS into its fold of political zealots, as they say birds of a feather flock together. Umno is adding fuel to fire by tacitly making PAS to also use the religious card to make the Malays look at the Chinese in DAP with cynicism, thinking that the Malays will come together to debase the Opposition party led by DAP that is doing fine in governing Penang.
It’s unfortunate for Umno that the people of Penang are not falling into its imprudent trap. This unsurprisingly has frustrated Umno more. Umno must be green-eyed that the Malays and Muslims in Penang are immensely contented with the state government run by the Opposition party. If truth be told, Umno or Barisan Nasional has become a complete washout in Penang.
IMDB and SRC fiascos
Beyond these political misfortunes faced by Umno, the 1MDB and SRC fiascos have seriously dented the party’s and the nation’s image. Prime assets – from the energy sector to prime lands – are sold to foreigners to pay up loans that have gone into billions of ringgit. Our ports will soon be controlled by a foreign power and this can be at the detriment of our security.
The economy and the ringgit are going down the slope. Living costs have risen. Crime rate and corruptions at all levels have escalated. Social problems have heightened due to unemployment and high costs of living. Religious and racial tensions are high due to insane politicking by fanatical leaders to win votes and remain in power.
The country has been seeing huge capital flights with the country’s reserves falling. The promises – only promises – made by the new-found saviours from China have not seen the lights of the day. Even if they were to materialise, they are not free lunch but huge loans that the country will be indebted to – if unpaid will bankrupt the country. This is going to affect the sovereignty of our nation in the long-run. .
To top them all, the perception is that Malay pride will be dented when the National Car, Proton, stops carrying the “National” tag. Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of China has agreed to buy half of Proton Holdings Bhd Malaysia’s former national champion carmaker. It was reported that Geely of China now owns 49.9% of Proton.
To cover up all these misdeeds, Umno is feverishly playing the race and religious cards and coming up with imaginary threats to hoodwink the Malays into thinking that Islam will be threatened and the Malay race will perish “if the Chinese come to power”.
Chinese in the country can never be a threat
The Malays however are not buying all these political gimmicks created by some mentally skewed Umno politicians. The enlightened Malays are aware that the less than 20 percent Malaysian Chinese in the country, what more multi-racial DAP, can never be a threat to them and they can never usurp political power from the politically dominant indigenous people.
Unlike the majority Malays, majority of the resilient Chinese in this country are more interested in doing business than getting involved in politics. Their foremost desire nevertheless is to see the country stable under proper governance and that it is helmed by an indigenous leader who is honest, competent, accountable and transparent.
Regrettably, some immature Umno politicians are using the local Chinese and DAP in particular as the bogeyman for its own self-made political ignominy. This has irrefutably backfired as majority of the Malays are not subscribing to Umno’s latest ruse.
In fact, the Malays are now more alarmed by the role China from afar is aggressively staging their military and territorial momentum in South East Asia and in the process cursorily helping to prop up debt-ridden countries led by corrupt politicians.
In truth, Umno has failed the Malays and the nation. It looks like, Umno’s new-found ally – PAS – is now dragged into the quagmire. Come what may, the electorate cannot be bamboozled forever. Their requisites now for the country are that it must be run by honest and patriotic leaders who will put the interests of the people and the nation foremost.
