COMPANY DIRECTOR OUT FOR LUNCH LOSES RM50,000 IN EMPLOYEES’ SALARIES
JOHOR BARU – A company director lost RM50,000, believed to have been stolen by two men on a motorcycle, at the parking area in Jalan Mutiara Emas, Taman Mount Austin, here, Monday.
Johor Criminal Investigation Department head Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the money was believed to have been stolen from the man’s car at about 2.15pm when the man, 45, was in a nearby food outlet.
“Earlier, the company director withdrew the money from a bank to pay his employees’ salaries.
“He placed the plastic bag of money under the driver’s seat and drove the car to the parking area before going to a nearby eatery for lunch,” he said in a statement Tuesday.
Kamarul Zaman said about two minutes later, he was told that his car window had been smashed.
He said the man found the car’s driver side window smashed and the plastic bag with the money missing.
“It is believed that two men on a motorcycle, with undetermined make and registration number, were involved in the crime,” he said.
Police are investigating the incident under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
